Project Caleb does not believe in re-inventing wheels! We are passionate about working with and alongside other agencies, groupings and organisations.
Very close bonds have been forged with MANCAT college in particular (Manchester College of Arts and Technology). We have discovered that colleges welcome intake of students with limited ability and social skills IF they are supported. Given intensive and effective support, MANCAT college has witnessed first hand that students of limited ability and social skills can be retained.
Close bonds have been forged with one contractor in particular, "Freedom Properties". We continue to forge bonds with other contractors.
Project Caleb works very closely with The Message Trust and its groupings such as Reflex with its work in the prisons, and Eden with its work at grass roots level in communities across Manchester.
Project Caleb works closely with Maranatha, and its work in parliament. Project Caleb's strategy is to work from the ground up and the top down. We plan to impact upon lives one-by-one in local projects and to change the system nationally. Firstly we plan to link the voluntary sector more closely with care agencies, local and national government. Secondly we plan to redress the imbalance and ensure that children in care get a better deal, particularly in terms of education. The fact that 3 out of 4 young people come out of care at the age of 16 without any qualification, compared to less than 1 in a hundred from the general population, is an indictment on us all. The present prison crisis should be of no surprise to us.
